City Breaks to Madrid

Madrid is a European capital city not to be missed. Whether you are looking to take a few days out to enjoy some football or take in the wider sights and sounds of this majestic city, a Nano trip to Madrid should be on your city break bucket list.  Realistically, the only UK departure city for a Nano Break to Madrid is London. Madrid has connections from Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh and Bristol and on some dates, there are ideal flights but they are not consistent. If travelling from a regional departure, consider connecting via a European hub such as Paris or Amsterdam or look to extend your break.

One Night Break in Madrid from London

Daily connections between the two capitals are plentiful although times do vary during the week so do explore the best connections especially if you are flexible in departure and return London airports. British Airways, with it’s sister airline Iberia, offer the majority of these connections from London Heathrow. They regularly offer a flight departing just before 6:30am which will get you into MAD before 10am, There are later flights with some getting in just after 11am. Return flights from Madrid are also regular with the latest flight arriving back at LHR at around 10pm.
easyJet offer morning flights from London Gatwick but times do vary, especially at the weekends, so do compare flights before booking. Ryanair offer flights from London Stansted and on some days of the week offer the earliest departures and the latest returns. Again, do check the timetables and depending on the time of year you are flying you may find flights are slightly later/earlier.

Madrid City Breaks from Manchester

Flight timetables from Manchester airport do not really make a one night break to Madrid a realistic option. If you are looking to visit the Spanish capital without taking time off we suggest a two night weekend break flying out late on Friday. Ryanair has a late night flight arriving in Madrid just after midnight. Stay until Sunday afternoon and return with Iberia mid afternoon.

City Breaks to Madrid from Scotland

A weekend break to Madrid from Edinburgh is possible but you need to be creative. easyJet offer direct flights from EDI and a very early Saturday flight gets you into Madrid mid morning allowing for some great exploration in the afternoon. Return flights with easyJet are not compelling so we suggest a later flight with British Airways departing after 7pm which connects Edinburgh via Heathrow but allows you far more time in Madrid on the Sunday.

Madrid Airport Transfers

Madrid Barajas Airport offers transfers into the centre of the city by metro and bus. The metro is the best way to connect with centre of Madrid. There are two airport stations so do check which terminal you are travelling back to the UK from. Two day tourist tickets are available so might be the best option to get into the city and then use to travel around. The metro takes you into the Nuevos Ministerios station where you can connect to the Bernabeu stadium.
