Nano trips to Zurich benefit from the many continual flights that connect London to the largest city in Switzerland. With one of the first flights out of London Heathrow you can be touching down at ZRH before 9am and then taking the extremely efficient trains into the centre of the city. These flights operate year round so whether you are looking for an Alpine summer break or a winter wonderland short trip, Zurich could be the ideal location for you.
City Breaks to Zurich from London
Unfortunately, if you are looking to take a direct Nano trip to Zurich you will almost certainly have to depart from London. London Heathrow is your best choice with flights from both Swiss and British Airways available. The earliest Swiss flight departs at 6am every day of the week. Just consider your timings if you take this early option. What time would you need to board, arrive at the airport, leave home? Return flights can depart Zurich up to just before 9pm in the evening the following day.
Other airport options are flights from London City and low cost options from London Gatwick with easyJet. When flying from London City remember there are restrictions on flights on Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings.
City Breaks to Zurich from the UK
If you don’t live near London don’t panic as a one night city break to Zurich is still possible from a wide range of other UK airports. Connecting flights via Amsterdam can get you into Zurich for just after 11am with a convenient late afternoon flight the following day. This makes a Zurich short break feasible from Edinburgh, Norwich, Humberside, Bristol and Cardiff.
For city breaks from Manchester Airport, there is a direct service with Swiss which arrives just before midday. If you want to make the most of your time consider connecting via Frankfurt with Lufthansa to give you more time in Zurich.
Airport Transport to Zurich
The best route into the centre of Zurich is by train. Regular services depart from the airport and take approximately 15 minutes. Should you wish to take advantage of that extremely early flight from LHR you could connect in Zurich and then take advantage of the many connections out to other cities and towns within Switzerland and be there for lunch time!
One Night in Zurich
The main tourism sites with Zurich can be found in the area between Lake Zurich and the main station and this is a good location to find accommodation. A one night break in Zurich is never going to be a bargain basement trip but hotels range from small family run accommodation to lakeside based luxury properties.
Zurich is the largest city in Switzerland and boasts an array of museums as well as Churches and heritage sites. Football fans might want to head for the FIFA museum (closed Mondays) and dance music followers should look out for the Street Parade festival in early August.
